Teaching Philosophy

My classroom will be a space where everyone can be both teacher and student. Everyone in my class comes in with unique abilities and diverse ideas that will be celebrated and incorporated into the learning experience. My goal as an educator is to create an inclusive environment where we can collaborate and learn from each other. I am there to facilitate their learning and create opportunities to discover new ideas.

About Me

I am from Houston, TX and moved to Denton, TX in 2016 to attend the University of North Texas for my bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6 with a certification in ESL. I was exposed to the world of teaching through my family at a very young age and ever since I have had a heart for helping others in whatever capacity that may be. I started off my teaching experience by co-teaching at Mitrani's Art Camp for Girls for many years and eventually went on to direct children's plays for local elementary schools through my high school's theatre program. I also volunteered as a judge for (DI) Destination Imagination for 2 years at the elementary and high school level in the DFW area. I then went on to teach at an outreach program for the summer of 2019 for my local YMCA. I am incredibly excited to have a classroom of my own and make it a loving and creative place for my students!

I live in a cute little apartment in Aubrey with my bunny, Ophelia, who keeps me on my toes. She most recently discovered she likes chewing my shoes! I am currently engaged and had to reschedule my wedding to December of 2021. In my free time I like to read and paint, I love the beach and hiking in Jones State Park. My favorite color is green and I can never have enough tea (I have over 3 boxes of flavors, it's probably a hobby at this point).

Educator Goals

  1. Create a space where all learners feel loved and accepted for who they are.

  2. Never stop learning, always seek out new material and books on how to improve my craft.

  3. Become certified in the Calm Classroom program.

  4. Expand my knowledge of children's books and create a more diverse library.
