Morning Greeting (during Covid)

Morning greetings help me see where my students are at before they step foot into my classroom. I used this morning greeting sign instead of my normal one because of new Covid-19 precautions.

Classroom Management

Positive Reinforcement

Marble jar: I will use a class jar with colored marbles and when the students behave for a substitute teacher or all get their classwork in on time or walk quietly down the halls they will receive a few marbles. One way I can encourage class wide behavior is choosing a secret student, if that student behaves all day I will announce who that student is at the end of the day and give them a treat and marbles for the whole class. If that student does not behave then I will say our student did not have a good day and we will try again tomorrow without announcing who it is.

Treasure box: I would have a special treasure box that would live in my cabinet, so it did not become a distraction for the students. This treasure box would have fun school supplies and coupons that would say things such as, "pick the read aloud book, choose the morning playlist (from an appropriate list preselected by teacher), lunch with a buddy, choose a team building activity, ect". The students who exhibit exceptional behavior on any given day will be given the opportunity to choose from this box.

Dojo Dollars: Class Dojo dollars is also an incentive I would use for student participation and reinforcing positive behavior. I would use these dollars for either whole class events if they all want to put in their money for a pajama day or no shoes day or they can use their money for coupons and the treasure box.
